VINTAGE TIN: THE LOST ARCHIVE

Beyond the stock photo. Museum-grade Australian iron.

Years ago I shot these for a book project that never happened. Australian automotive graveyards, the rusted FJs, Fords, and decades of iron sitting in paddocks across rural NSW and Victoria. I documented them in 2009. By 2015, councils and the EPA had cleared most of them away.

The archive sat on hard drives doing nothing until a mate asked if he could use one for a shower splashback. He got it printed. Next thing, people kept asking him where to buy a print.

I thought about going for volume, flogging them on posters, t-shirts, hats. Then I thought, no. If I'm going to do this, I'm doing it properly.

Printed on heavyweight archival paper. The same stock museums use (310gsm acid-free cotton rag, to be exact). Rolled in a sturdy 3mm tube and shipped to your door. I recommend resisting the urge to open it at home and suggest you take it straight to your framer. I've generously left him two inches to work with around the photo. He'll know how to let it relax out of its rolled state so it sits perfectly flat for framing. The kind of print that will outlast anyone looking at it. Printed in Perth by Fitzgerald Photo Imaging, proudly Australian, just like the beauties in the photos.
